So many things that happened!

Previous article: My second text from the Writer Circle Group at the Calgary Central Library

Hi everyone ! I’m here to tell you how much has happened over the past few months. So let’s go!

First, I moved! I assure you that finding an apartment in a city as expensive as Calgary takes time, especially given the prices of housing for the size they have to offer! But it doesn’t matter, after 3 months of research, a lot of paperwork and a hasty move, here we are now in a superb apartment, not too expensive, with our furniture, our desks, our everything. We can now start our new life in a place where we truly feel at home.

I participated in another NYC Midnight challenge, the Short Story. The goal was to write a short story of 2,500 words maximum with defined themes. I had as a genre Fantasy, as a character to integrate A thief and finally as a subject Childhood dream(s). From this challenge, I came away with a wonderful children’s story, which ultimately became a whole series of books. I have already written 4 volumes out of (at least) 6. The goal: that everything is so cute!
My short story was not selected, nor the one before, the one with 250 words. However, I received wonderful feedback for both that really warmed my heart!
So in summary these challenges, I loved doing them, however, I won’t do them that often. I was preparing a novel when the last one arrived and it completely cut me off from my story. So next time I’ll start at the last minute to make sure I don’t have to do anything that I wouldn’t mind stopping. On the other hand, it is clear that I loved the exercises, and the stories I wrote were really nice! I am proud of myself and of what I have produced. Are we talking about writing an entire story in just 250 words? ^^’

I continue to go to my writers group at the Calgary library. We’re starting to have same people coming regularly and it’s great to be able to share stories with them. Thanks to the prompts offered to us, I managed to write some really cool little stories that I will continue to share with you here (in English) and here (in French, but it will be rarer since it’s an English group) .

Then, I have been working for a while on a big novel, which was supposed to be a single volume, but which will ultimately be a diptych. The genre is Sci-Fy, the themes are robotics and the place of men in society. I won’t say more because I want to keep some mystery about these subjects which must seem so banal to you! Actually, you’re not wrong… but I didn’t tell you anything more ^^.
Since January 3, I have written all the basics of the story, made all the character sheets, the building, city and country sheets, done tons of research on all the subjects covered and there are quite a few complicated (on ethically), summarized all the chapters, and summarized the few subplots. Hence the fact that from a single volume, I have two in preparation. However, I have only worked on the first book so far. So now I’m ready to start writing, I just need to find the right time to start. Because as soon as I start doing it, I would probably write it in one go.

But then, what’s holding me back when I’m ready to start working on this new novel, when I no longer have any challenges in progress or coming, when I’ve finished moving, and when I’m finally feel good at home? Well my husband found a job! Finally ! Except that everything didn’t go as we imagined, we had to do paperwork (again!), a lot, a lot, a lot of paperwork, and we’re not finished yet, but we can see the end of it. So I am, for a little while longer, busy with something else, and I don’t want to focus on a big project until all the clocks are set straight.
Next, I’m working on something secret! So it also takes me time. News coming soon!

And so, finally, after all that, I’m working on my little children’s stories while waiting to finally be free from everything else. I love writing these mini stories because it’s so cute and it’s really good for my morale! It relieves the mind of all the overly adult things that are happening in our lives. A little freshness, please!

Well there you go, I think I have made a good summary of these last few months, and I think I have said everything. I hope everything is going well for you, as well as for me now! I’ll see you soon!!!!!!
